God sent His only Son, Jesus, when the time was right.
Jesus' birth tells us the kind of Savior He is. At the time
Jesus was born, the Roman ruler of Palestine (where the
Jews lived) was Herod, an evil man. Herod had great forts
and palaces built so he would "feel" safe. One of the huge
forts was right outside Bethlehem. But Jesus, the true king
and ruler of all things, humbled Himself and was born in
a stable. Herod's kingdom and power are of this world and
are temporary. But Jesus' kingdom and power will last
forever. Herod's power came by force, but Jesus's power
is released in willing people.

|
This power is obtained when a person is "born again",
sometimes called "saved", this means a person's eternal
destination is changed. Mankind was created to glorify
God, but we blew it when Adam and Eve sinned against
God. So God had to come up with a plan of salvation to
save all who would be willing to do it His way. Jesus's birth
was for all people, to draw them to God.

Commentary:
|
Since Satan will do anything to get your attention off
salvation, it seems to me that the earlier you settle the issue
of salvation the better.
